Celebrating Milestones!!

Birthday's have always been a big deal in my house growing up.  My mom always threw birthday parties for us...they didn't cost a lot of money, but we always had loads of fun!  Sometimes we played games...like passing the bag of clothes while the music played and when it stopped, you had to pull out an article of clothing and put it on.  We looked rediculous...and yes - this is now a favorite game at my kids' parties.  Well my family recently celebrated a milestone...my dad turned 75 on March 15th.  He didn't want gifts...but rather wanted to take his family out to celebrate with dinner and 5 pin bowling in Canada.  He enjoyes creating memories so much more than having us spend money on him...so off we went.  We have so much to be thankful for.  Being part of a family that enjoys spending time together is a rare thing these days.  We all live busy lives - but taking time to celebrate each other remains a priority - and for that I am thankful!

Our gift to my dad was to write letters to him, telling him what we love about him. My kids each wrote one of their own, telling Grandpa what they love about him and what they love to do with him.  I wrote him a letter stating all the things I love about him and all that I've learned from him. 
If there is someone in your life that means a lot to you I challenge you to write them a letter expressing the impact they've had in your life.  Why wait?  It's better to tell them now how much you love them than when it's too late!!  Trust me - you will be blessed by how much you have blessed them!
